Diary Pregnancy

Before a pregnancy can even begin, getting to know each other personally is our top priority.

Thats why we deliberately spent our last vacation where our stud dog lives. In a relaxed atmosphere, Haideh and Sayid were able to sniff each other thoroughly, play together, and spend plenty of time with one another.

It was month later, right after Easter, that the stud dog came to our bitch. A big heartfelt thank you to Heinrich, who made the long journey!

On April 9, 2026, the “wedding” took place here. On May 5, 2026, we were able to confirm the pregnancy by ultrasound.

She is pregnant!

The fifth week begins:

The top line dropped a little and the underline is starting to fill out.

Weight: 44,64 Ibs

Around day 31, the embryos are approximately 0,8 - 1,2 inches in size (roughly the size of a walnut) and are transitioning into the fetal stage. Sensory hairs (whiskers), toes, and the first bone ossifications are forming. The intestines are temporarily displaced outward. On ultrasound, clear heartbeats and body contours can now be seen.

The sixth week:

Weight: 47,51 lbs

The eighth week has begun:

Two weeks have passed since the last picture. During this time, the little ones have developed rapidly.

The puppies are now approx. 4 to 5,5 inches in size and weigh approx. 0,22 to 0,44 lbs. Coat color and markings are already visible, claws and tooth buds are forming. The bones are hardening well and are now clearly visible on X-rays.

The puppies are very active, moving strongly and are already practicing sucking and swallowing movements. Their internal organs are largely fully developed.

In the coming week, growth continues to accelerate. The puppies will reach a size of 6 to 7 inches and a weight of approximately 0,55 - 0,88 lbs. Their eyes are still closed but are fully formed, the lungs continue to mature. The puppies are now lying tightly packed in the uterine horns and have less space.

During these two weeks, the main focus is on maturation and weight gain. The bitch now needs significantly more rest.

Here is the X-ray taken at the beginning of the 8th week. We counted seven puppies.

The X-ray is performed using very low radiation, so the puppies are not harmed in any way. We take the X-ray to determine the number of puppies and their positioning.

The ninth week:

Today is the 57th day of pregnancy and you can clearly see that the belly has dropped significantly.

For Haideh, this is a strenuous and tiring time.

The puppies are now almost fully developed and already look like little Saluki puppies. Their weight ranges between 0,66 - 1,0 lbs per puppy and they measure approx. 6,3 - 7,5 inches in length.

Coat, claws, tooth buds and markings are complete. The lungs will continue to mature over the next few days. The skeleton is largely calcified and the organs are functioning. They are practicing swallowing and sucking movements and already react to external stimuli.

There are only 3-6 days left until birth.
